Meet Catherine Priggs
Catherine has nearly 20 years’ experience in education. During this time she has worked as a history teacher, head of house, subject leader, senior leader, director of teaching school, and continuing professional development lead for a teaching school hub (240 schools). In her ten years as a senior leader in two large secondary schools, she led professional development, teaching and learning, appraisal, educational research, and acted as Professional Tutor (for trainee teachers and Early Career Teachers); as director of a teaching school, she coordinated school improvement across Buckinghamshire.
She has also worked as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) since 2014 and as a freelance education consultant since 2019. As an education consultant, Catherine has supported a wide range of schools and multi-academy trusts on a variety of aspects of school improvement at subject and senior leader level. She has extensive experience of training, mentoring, and coaching teachers, from trainee teachers to experienced senior leaders.
Catherine is heavily involved in history education. She has experience of leading Initial Teacher Training, is a member of the Historical Association’s (HA) Secondary Committee, and is a Quality Mark Assessor for the HA. She is a Senior Assessor for leading UK-based and international exam boards. She is committed to lifelong learning, having studied at the Universities of St Andrews and Cambridge to achieve an MA (Hons), a PGCE, and an MEd.
She also holds the NPQH. She has authored various history-specific and leadership educational pieces and regularly presents at national conferences and for educational organisations.
