Jane Ward

Associate Consultant

Jane Ward is an experienced senior education leader and SEND specialist with more than 30 years’ experience across mainstream, specialist and alternative provision. She has particular expertise in SEND and inclusion, SEMH, behaviour and culture, safeguarding and whole-school improvement. Most recently, Jane has worked as an Interim Deputy Headteacher in a specialist SEMH setting, providing experienced leadership during a period of significant staffing and leadership transition. Prior to this, she spent ten years as Deputy Headteacher at Pebble Brook School, where she held wide-ranging strategic responsibilities including safeguarding, behaviour, teaching and learning, staff development and school improvement. During this period, the school grew from approximately 98 to 180 pupils while maintaining the quality of its provision and achieved a Good Ofsted judgement in 2024, with inspectors commenting that “pupils at this school thrive.” Jane’s experience also includes leading KS3 alternative provision and senior leadership within mainstream education. She has developed innovative approaches to inclusion, including multi-agency working, targeted provision for pupils at risk of exclusion and approaches to supporting successful transitions and preparation for adulthood. Her approach combines strategic thinking with practical, hands-on support. She works collaboratively with leaders and staff, taking time to understand the context of each school while providing constructive challenge and clear recommendations. Underpinning her work is a belief that sustainable school improvement comes from strong leadership, inclusive practice and a culture in which both pupils and staff can thrive.
