The first years in teaching shape a career. Early career teachers need strong support, and the mentors who guide them need training too. This programme develops both: it helps your ECTs thrive and gives your mentors the skills to coach them well, so your school keeps and grows great teachers.
Below, we explain what our early career teacher and mentor training involves, and how it helps you develop and retain your newest staff.
It’s practical training that supports early career teachers and the mentors who work with them. For ECTs, we build the core classroom skills that make the biggest difference early on. For mentors, we develop the coaching and feedback skills that turn a good teacher into a good mentor.
We align it with the Early Career Framework and focus on the day-to-day realities of the first years in the classroom.
It’s designed for all education settings: maintained schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts, Alternative Provisions, and SEND Units/Hubs. It works for ECTs, their mentors, induction leads, and trainee teachers. Trusts often run it across schools to build a consistent induction experience.
Many schools ask for it to strengthen their ECF induction, support struggling early career teachers, or develop their mentors.
We shape the content around your priorities. You can book a whole-school INSET, a group session, or focused one-to-one support. Our most common areas include:
ECTs build the skills that matter most early on. They find their feet faster and teach better sooner.
Good mentoring is a skill, not a job title. We give your mentors the coaching tools to do it well.
Well-supported ECTs are far more likely to stay. You protect your investment and reduce turnover.
We align with the framework and make induction meaningful, not just a tick-box.
Targeted support helps early career teachers who are finding it hard to get back on track.
New teachers learn to manage workload and stress, building habits that sustain a long career.
Strong early development grows the confident, skilled staff your school needs for the future.
Every participant comes away with more than notes. They get:
