What Is Safeguarding Training?
It’s practical training that helps your staff understand their safeguarding duties and act on them. We cover the law, statutory guidance, your policies, and what to do when a concern arises. We use real examples so staff leave knowing how to spot, report, and respond to concerns.
It gives your team clear knowledge and real confidence, not just a certificate. Staff understand why safeguarding matters and what their part in it is. Every participant does receive a certificate on completion, which you can hold on file as evidence for inspection, governors, trustees, and your single central record.
Who Is Safeguarding Training For?
It’s designed for all education settings: maintained schools, academies, and multi-academy trusts, Alternative Provisions, SEND Units and Hubs, independent schools, British Schools Overseas, early years settings, sixth forms and colleges, pupil referral units, and local authorities.
Designated safeguarding leads, deputy DSLs, headteachers and senior leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, support staff, office and admin teams, site and premises staff, catering staff, midday supervisors, sports coaches, volunteers, governors, trustees, and members all use our training to build knowledge, meet their duties, and show they take child protection seriously.
Many schools book training after a change in staff, a new safeguarding lead, an inspection, a serious incident or case review, a change to statutory guidance, or simply as good practice on a regular cycle.
What Level of Safeguarding Training Do We Provide?
We deliver Level 1 and Level 2 safeguarding training. The level tells you how deep the training goes and who it is aimed at. Most settings need both, because different roles carry different responsibilities.
Level 1 safeguarding training
This is awareness-level training for everyone who works in or around your setting. It is aimed at all staff and volunteers: teachers, teaching assistants, office and admin teams, site and premises staff, catering staff, midday supervisors, sports coaches, contractors, and visiting adults. Governors and trustees also start here.
Level 1 covers what safeguarding is, the law and statutory guidance behind it, the types of abuse and neglect, the signs and indicators to look for, what to do when a child discloses something, how and when to report a concern, and the limits of your own role. Staff leave knowing they do not investigate, they report. It is the training every adult in your setting must have before they work with children, and it is the training you refresh at least every year in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Level 2 safeguarding training
This is enhanced training for staff who hold additional safeguarding responsibility or who deal with concerns regularly. It suits senior leaders, pastoral and inclusion staff, heads of year, SENCOs, designated teachers, family support workers, attendance leads, and anyone being prepared to step up into a deputy DSL role. Link safeguarding governors and chairs often take Level 2 as well.
Level 2 goes further than awareness. It covers thresholds and when to escalate, early help and multi-agency working, information sharing and GDPR, record keeping and chronologies, making a referral to children’s social care, contextual safeguarding and extra-familial harm, child-on-child abuse, working with the LADO, and how to support colleagues who bring concerns to you. It builds the judgement to handle a concern properly, not just spot one.

Bespoke Safeguarding Training
If you need training on a topic that isn’t listed, we will build it. We write bespoke safeguarding training on any safeguarding subject, for any audience, at any level. That includes local risks specific to your community, findings from your own case reviews or audits, themes from an inspection outcome, a new policy you want staff to understand, or a topic your DSL has identified as a gap.
